Top notch outfit. From the guides all the way down to the dogs, you won't find a better experience in the state of South Dakota. Dustin and Josh have great knowledge of the area, they always put you on the birds. They know where to go all day long. Have booked this trip 4 years in a row, I have never left South Dakota without my limit of birds and wonderful memories. I would put this place up against any other place in this state. When I'm considering a pheasant trip to South Dakota, there are two priorities. Good accommodations and great bird numbers. Dustin and Josh have the perfect solution with their beautiful property on the edge of the great Missouri River. Their picturesque property hosts 100s and 100s of birds and the fields are the perfect size. The hunting is amazing with different fields along with a great variety of bird species. The hunts were well orchestrated, organized, and communicated by both Josh and Dustin. The lodge is clean and comfortable has a full kitchen, big TV and several LazyBoys to watch hockey or football along w wifi (a nice touch). I couldn't be happier with our trip. I can't wait to return.

We had such a great time hunting with the Byrums. The land was perfect for hunting, the birds were plentiful and the accommodations were top notch with great meals. Josh, Dustin and team were great guides with great dogs. They put us in the best position to limit out every day. When we would limit out early we hunted other birds. I will be returning next year.

After pheasant hunting a few seasons now with the boys at Byrum High Plains Guide Service, I can attest to the fact that these guys are committed to growing and improving upon what was already a top notch hunting experience. As a South Dakota native, few things make me happier than seeing the high level of pride and passion that Josh and Dustin take in putting the groups I've brought out on a ton of birds.
That said, they do much more to provide a rich experience around an authentic South Dakota bird hunt - an experience that goes well beyond merely putting you on a LOT of birds. They personally work hard walking through the tough spots to get birds in the air, their dogs are outstanding, the new investment they made in 2014 in a hunting lodge atop a beautiful bluff with an amazing view overlooking the Missouri River is something you need to experience and finally the unbelievable service and personality of Donna and Judy who take great pride in every home cooked meal they put in front of you. All in, it's just one of those experiences where words don't do it justice... you've just got to experience it!

Just wanted to say that I was a first time pheasant hunter last year. I was somewhat hesitant to go but went none the less. Upon arriving, we were greated by the staff and made to feel welcome immediately. I was given great instruction and phenomenal hunting. Every year we get with Dustin and Josh to book our annual pheasant hunt with our team and some hand-picked customers. It's funny, our customers fight for a return spot on the next year's hunt. They just can't stop talking about what a great time it is and how there can be so many birds. I hunted with Byrums High Plains Guide Service for the first time in 2016. I have hunted South Dakota many times before so I knew the hunting could be good. I just didn't know it could be this good. My group saw literally hundreds of pheasants each day. Josh and Dustin also took extra time to hunt some fields that were best for my young pointing dog, and gave me valuable insight and training advice. Accommodations are first class and the food is excellent. We have already booked again for next year.
